Wartagate.com - Jessica Simpson recently opened up about how removing alcohol from her life has helped her become more confident and creative. In an interview with People on Monday, the singer revealed that sobriety has allowed her to be more honest with herself and her audience.
"I am actually much more honest without alcohol, and I am much more confident without alcohol," Simpson stated.
Her journey of self-discovery is reflected in her latest EP, Nashville Canyon: Part 1, where she found her voice again. Rather than using alcohol to cope with emotions, Simpson chose to face them head-on, letting herself experience and move through them naturally. She admitted that alcohol had once deceived her into believing it made her braver.
Now 44 years old, Simpson has gone through significant changes over the past seven years since quitting drinking. In January, she announced her separation from her husband of ten years, Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children: Maxwell (12), Ace (11), and Birdie (5).
As she navigated these life changes, she rediscovered her passion for music in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Collaborating with songwriters, she shared her personal journals and poetry to create deeply personal songs.
Through Nashville Canyon, Simpson feels she has reclaimed her true self and found creative freedom in her music.
"Maybe through Nashville Canyon, I came with forgetting who told me to be something. That was a made-up version of myself. And to have the freedom in music, that is what you will hear in Nashville Canyon," she concluded.
Her journey highlights the power of self-acceptance and the importance of authenticity in both life and art.
