Wartagate.com - Jisoo, a member of BLACKPINK, and renowned actor Seo In-Guk are reportedly set to take on the lead roles in an upcoming South Korean romantic drama titled "Boyfriend on Demand" (tentative title).
According to a report from Variety on Wednesday, Netflix has officially greenlit the project as part of its continued investment in Korean content, following the platform's success with various romance-focused productions.
The drama will be directed by Kim Jung Sik, known for helming popular series such as the romantic-comedy "No Gain No Love" and the comedy-drama "Work Later, Drink Now". "Boyfriend on Demand" is set in a virtual world where users can subscribe to a "boyfriend" service, and relationships that begin in the digital realm unfold in real life.
Jisoo will play Seo Mi-rae, a career-driven content creator whose love life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a device called the "Monthly Boyfriend." This gadget allows her to date seemingly perfect virtual candidates, leading to surprising and transformative experiences.
Seo In-Guk, on the other hand, will portray Park Kyeong-nam, a rival webtoon producer whose cold exterior conceals a darker side. His complex character dynamic with Mi-rae is expected to add workplace tension and emotional depth to the romantic storyline.
In addition to Jisoo and Seo In-Guk, actress Gong Min Jung is also reportedly in talks to join the cast. This drama marks Jisoo’s latest acting project following her acclaimed performance in Disney+ and JTBC’s "Snowdrop" and her upcoming Amazon Prime Video series "Newtopia".
"Boyfriend on Demand" is shaping up to be a captivating addition to the growing lineup of Korean dramas on Netflix, combining innovative storytelling with a star-studded cast. Fans can look forward to a unique blend of romance, workplace drama, and futuristic themes.
