Blake Lively Returns to the Screen in Another Simple Favor

Wartagate.com - After a long-awaited comeback, actress Blake Lively is once again gracing the big screen with her latest film, Another Simple Favor. Despite being involved in an ongoing legal dispute with her co-star Justin Baldoni from It Ends with Us, Lively received a warm welcome at the premiere of her new movie during the SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas.
According to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday (March 7), Lively attended the premiere at Paramount Theater alongside co-star Anna Kendrick, director Paul Feig, and other cast members, including Andrew Rannells, Elizabeth Perkins, and Alex Newell.
“I absolutely love these characters and thought it would be so much fun to revisit them,” said Feig during a Q&A session following the screening of the sequel.
Meanwhile, Lively expressed her deep connection to her role, stating that Emily Nelson in Another Simple Favor is her favorite character she has ever played.
Scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video on May 1, 2025, Another Simple Favor continues the story from its 2018 predecessor, A Simple Favor.
The sequel follows Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily (Lively) as they travel to the luxurious island of Capri for Emily’s extravagant wedding.
Emily is set to marry a wealthy Italian businessman, but the lavish celebration soon takes a dark turn, filled with murder and betrayal.
The original A Simple Favor was a major success, grossing $97 million worldwide and later achieving cult status as audiences continued streaming it. The sequel promises to raise the stakes even higher, with a more complex plot and stunning visual storytelling.
Lively hinted at a surprising plot twist in the film, crediting Feig for adding an element of unpredictability.
"Right before we started filming, [Feig] told me, 'I have an idea that’s totally unexpected.' I won’t reveal what it is because I don’t want to spoil anything, but it really raises the stakes. It was actually uncomfortable to watch in the theater with all of you,” Lively shared.
Kendrick, on the other hand, expressed her excitement about returning for the sequel but also acknowledged the complexity of her character’s journey.
“This time, I thought, if I follow her into a dangerous situation, I guess she wouldn’t take it seriously,” Kendrick said, reflecting on her character’s dynamic with Emily.
In addition to Another Simple Favor, Amazon Studios is preparing to release several highly anticipated films in 2025, including The Accountant 2 starring Ben Affleck and the thriller Holland, featuring Nicole Kidman.
With its thrilling twists, captivating performances, and luxurious setting, Another Simple Favor is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the psychological thriller genre, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.
