Wartagate.com - The entertainment industry was recently shaken by the revelation of a long-hidden relationship between actor Kim Soo Hyun and actress Kim Sae Ron.
Reports suggest that their romantic involvement began on November 19, 2015, when Kim Sae Ron was just 15 years old, while Kim Soo Hyun was 27.
The significant age gap between them is believed to be the main reason why they never publicly acknowledged their relationship.
According to sources close to Kim Soo Hyun, legal and ethical concerns regarding Kim Sae Ron's age at the time were a major issue.
The actor was reportedly aware that their relationship could spark controversy, leading them to keep it hidden from the public. "Her age was always a problem.
That’s why they never officially admitted to dating," a close acquaintance of Kim Soo Hyun revealed.
The relationship came under further scrutiny when a woman claiming to be Kim Sae Ron’s aunt appeared on the YouTube channel GaroSaero Research Institute, known for exposing scandals in the Korean entertainment industry.
She alleged that the couple had been together for years and that their relationship continued even after Kim Soo Hyun established his agency, Gold Medalist, where Kim Sae Ron later joined out of loyalty.
Their relationship reportedly faced significant strain following Kim Sae Ron’s DUI incident in 2022. The actress was fined heavily and struggled financially in the aftermath.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun allegedly provided financial assistance amounting to 700 million KRW (approximately $525,000) without setting a repayment deadline.
However, tensions escalated when Kim Sae Ron unexpectedly received an official debt notice. It was believed that this was not directly sent by Kim Soo Hyun but by a Gold Medalist executive named Lee Ro Bae, who had family ties to the actor.
Feeling betrayed and confused, Kim Sae Ron attempted to reach out to Kim Soo Hyun for clarification, but her calls went unanswered. Even when she tried calling from her cousin’s number, she received no response.
Feeling overwhelmed by the pressure from the media and the harsh scrutiny of former journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, Kim Sae Ron took desperate measures.
She reportedly shared personal photos of herself and Kim Soo Hyun in an attempt to gain his attention.
However, the situation only worsened, leading her into deeper emotional distress.
According to family members, her mental and emotional well-being deteriorated rapidly, requiring constant monitoring from her loved ones.
A neighbor who saw her during this difficult time expressed concern, stating, “I saw scars on her wrist.
I didn’t even know she was an actress. I thought she was just someone who moved to Seoul with her younger sister.”
Days before her passing on February 16, 2025, Kim Sae Ron spent time at her aunt’s house. Her relatives later revealed that her physical condition had worsened significantly, reflecting the immense psychological burden she was carrying.
