Won Bin’s Unwavering Kindness Toward the Late Kim Sae Ron: A Bond Beyond the Screen

Wartagate.com - The kindness of actor Won Bin towards the late actress Kim Sae Ron has touched many hearts. Recently, his financial assistance and final messages to her have gained widespread attention.

On March 13, photos of Won Bin’s last messages to Kim Sae Ron surfaced, revealing his repeated offers to help her financially. 

On July 12, 2023, he sent a message through her manager, asking, "Do you need help paying off your debt? The amount doesn’t matter." 

Kim Sae Ron responded three days later, thanking him but declining the offer, saying, "I really appreciate your help, but this time I want to solve the problem on my own." 

Despite her refusal, on July 20, 2023, Won Bin anonymously transferred 230 million won (approximately $173,000) to her mother’s medical account with the note, "For ice cream."

Their bond dates back to 2010 when they co-starred in The Man from Nowhere. That same year, while still in elementary school, Kim Sae Ron shared on Cyworld that Won Bin had gifted her a mini laptop for her birthday. 

She wrote, "A mini laptop chosen by Uncle Won Bin for my birthday. Thank you. I will grow up to be a good person like you." 

When criticized for showing off, she defended herself, saying, "I’m not bragging about my laptop. I just wanted to express how warm and kind Uncle Won Bin is. 

He cares about me even though I am just an ordinary child who could have easily been ignored. I will not delete this post."

Won Bin’s concern for Kim Sae Ron extended beyond financial support. Reports indicate that he even quit smoking out of concern for her health. 

His devotion was further demonstrated after her passing when he attended her funeral at Asan Medical Center in Seoul on March 17. According to Kim Sae Ron’s aunt, Won Bin was the first to arrive at the funeral. 

Since his marriage, he has rarely appeared in public, but he made an exception for this occasion. A journalist captured a moment where Won Bin stood in front of Kim Sae Ron’s portrait for a long time, wiping away tears and speaking with her family.
